Looking for a hassle-free, ski-in-ski-out option ? See my thoughts about these two popular family-friendly resorts in Hokkaido.
A most worthy contender for the best resort-style ski hotel in Hokkaido.
Smack in the middle of Niseko Hirafu village and great value for money especially if you can get the early bird discount. Only slightly more expensive than a pension/lodge with the benefit of having more privacy and an ensuite bathroom. Best suited for couples.
Niseko Hirafu Upper Village location & possibly one of the cheapest 2BR apartments in Hirafu. If you can find 4 pax to share this would work out cheaper than a pension/lodge, with the added freedom of having your own living area. Since there’s no concierge, SB is better suited to independent travelers who don’t need a lot of hand-holding. Book early as there are only 4-5 units
[Updated Feb 2015!] All-inclusive concept so you don’t have to worry about organizing lift passes, lessons, food, accommodation separately. Overall a pretty decent option for families with young kids, large groups, and beginners who want to take lessons every day. Oh yeah, and people who drink a LOT of house pours. It is not the cheapest option but you can think of the cost premium as a convenience fee.
